MANILA, Philippines. The European Union-Philippines (EU-PH) Green Economy Partnership, a program funded by the EU, held a green business conference on 5-6 November 2025, “Opportunities and Interventions for Green Business”. The two-day event created opportunities for investors, businesses and partners to team up and accelerate the Philippine transition to a green and circular economy.
Participants learned how they can engage with the various interventions of the program that aim to increase the private and financial sectors’ involvement in the Philippine green transition, and presented what’s next for green policy, local government, and investments. Programme partners Expertise France and the Global Green Growth Institute highlighted their upcoming interventions under the EU-PH partnership.
The recipients of the Green Up to Scale Up Innovation Grants were announced: Three startup enablers from across the Philippines received a total of EUR 1.35 million to implement projects that support and enable green startups over the next two years. Ten shortlisted applicants of the Greenpreneurs Philippines Acceleration Program pitched their projects to invited investors, and three will be selected to receive critical support to scale up their business.
Building bridges for a greener Philippines
“The event is a testament to the European Union’s commitment to investing in the transition of the Philippine economy towards more circularity,” stated Dr. Marco Gemmer, Head of Cooperation of the EU Delegation. “This also opens more doors for building networks and bridging European and Philippine businesses and markets.”
“Partnerships like this send a strong signal of confidence that the Philippine economy is open, dynamic, and ready for sustainable investment. The Green Economy Partnership reflects our firm commitment to the global sustainability agenda and to building an enabling environment where innovation and enterprise can thrive together,” said Assistant Secretary Nylah Rizza Bautista, Supervising Head of the Department of Trade and Industry’s Competitiveness and Innovation Group (DTI-CIG).
She added that such a partnership lays the foundations for a stronger, more competitive, and future-ready Philippine economy.
