AccGED Pilot Replication and Innovation Workshop

AccGED Pilot Replication and Innovation Workshop in cooperation with DTI Region 3 Office during 23/24 February 2017 in San Fernando, Pampanga Province.

The AccGED pilot workshop in Pampanga was carried out to initiate a strategic and coordinate DTI-wide replication approach for green economic development among MSMEs and DTI related stakeholders. Furthermore to utilize the methods, processes and materials which were developed and effectively implemented in 8 Regions and 16 Provinces during the successful GIZ ProGED project experience further on via the Replication Toolbox. Thus replicate, streamline and sustain post-ProGED processes in DTI’s MSME support strategies in regions and provinces nationwide under the new brand AccGED.PH and provide training to operative staff in regional and provincial DTI offices and related Negosyo Centers (NC) about feasible concepts for green growth aspects in MSME consultancy. Finally the workshop promoted a knowledge network among all concerned DTI and NC staff for a new GED approach that will enhanced the focus on green economy innovation systems. It clarified the roles and tasks of national, regional and provincial actors how to promote green innovation effectively and give outlook to NCs as innovation hubs. DTI staff from 4 Regions were invited to the function as observers in order to share their perception of the AccGED Toolbox utility. The following statements were given by two observers:

CAR observer Ms Atty Marvie Fulgencio: Summarizing the review of ProGED project it can be stated that a very meaningful legacy has been given to DTI in the pursue to enhance the green economy approach within DTI’s MSME support strategy. The toolbox will be very useful especially with the included information about a green economy consumer care.

NCR observer Ms Jocivic Bertillo: The AccGED Toolbox will greatly facilitate for DTI the replication of GED with it’s own possibilities. DTI NCR is after this workshop inspired to look into opportunities to go green with the footwear manufacturing sector.

Further recommendation from other workshop participants to

  • Install in all DTI provincial offices a Green Economy Focal Person and communicate this network to BSMED as a steering agency.
  • Replicate the 2day ‘Replication Toolbox and Sustainability Workshop’ in cooperation with all DTI Regional offices.
  • Conduct two more 1 day ‘Training of Trainers’ workshops along the AccGED Toolbox for selected focal persons and closely related operative staff (such as NC).

Overall participants were motivated to carry out the replication of AccGED equipped with the AccGED-Toolbox, which will be given to all participants on a USB stick for facilitation and further development towards their regional and provincial needs.

Other workshops were carried out in April 2017 in Region 2, Region 4a and Region 11. Moreover 200 people since the pilot workshop were trained and sensitized.
